Sit and Go Madness at FullTilt Poker
July 31, 2008 | 2 Comments
‘Sit & Go Madness’ has returned to FullTilt Poker, giving single table specialists at all levels a chance to compete for bonus money and prizes all weekend long. This fourth edition of the Madness is set to kick off on Friday, August 1st and will run until Sunday, August 3rd, at which time Full Tilt Poker will have fully distributed an estimated bonus prize pool of $75,000 dollars.
Sit & Go Madness is special, in that $2 players don’t have to compete against $200 players. Players of all levels have a chance to win bonus cash, just by beating the regular players they play against all the time. Just rank highly on one of the weekend’s 24 two-hour block leader boards and regardless of the level you play, you’ll win cash.
Even casual players, who are unable to put in the time or money to win the leader board bonus cash, have a great opportunity to take advantage of Full Tilt’s Madness this weekend. Just by winning one of the designated Sit & Go Madness SNGs, players are automatically entered into “the Madness Raffle,” where players can win Full Tilt gear, poker sets, satellite tokens, and even $535 entries into the Full Tilt Online Poker Series Main Event – a free prize that could pay off handsomely, given the FTOPS Main Event has a guaranteed prize pool of $2.5 million dollars.

St. Johns, Antigua (PRWEB) July 25, 2008 — BodogPoker is once again giving its online poker players the chance to freeroll their way to poker stardom and riches while traveling to exotic locations in total Bodog style. The Asian Poker Tour event in Macau, held Aug. 26-31, is guaranteeing $1.5 million in prize money, and Bodog Poker is now running freeroll qualifier tournaments where the winner receives entry to the APT Macau plus an all-expenses paid trip to the exciting gaming destination situated along the Pearl River Delta in China.
The freeroll tournaments are scheduled four times daily throughout the month of July. The top 25 finishers per qualifier move onto the APT Macau Seat Giveaway Finale on Saturday, Aug. 2, with the top prize being an $8,000 prize package that includes the event’s $5,300 buy-in, round trip flight, spending money and a six-night stay at the luxurious Galaxy StarWorld Hotel & Casino located in the heart of Macau.
“With the World Series in Las Vegas all but over, it is time for online poker players to head east–the Far East that is–for a shot at scoring big, and Bodog Poker is excited to give players the chance to win their way into this major tournament without spending a dime,” said Morris Mohawk Gaming Group CEO Alwyn Morris. “We’re sending a team of players to the APT Macau in total Bodog style and one of them will be freerolling their way there to compete for a share of its $1.5 million guaranteed prize pool.”
In addition to the APT Macau Seat Giveaway freeroll qualifiers, online poker players can also play for one of three $8,000 APT Macau VIP Prize Packages that Bodog is awarding in qualifiers held through Aug. 3. Players can work their way up from the “cheap seats,” build tournament credits for other qualifiers, blast through a Turbo Quarterfinal or two, or skip the line and buy directly into one of the $300 + $20 buy-in Semifinal events held over the next three Sundays at 3:15 p.m.
The APT Macau is just one of a number of tournaments held around the world that poker players can qualify for through Bodog every week. From the World Series event in London this September to tournaments across Europe, Asia and North America, Bodog’s Player’s Choice packages give winners the chance to compete for millions of dollars while experiencing some of the most exciting and exotic locations in the world as only Team Bodog members do.
Bodog now Offering Prop Bets on WSOP Final Table
July 24, 2008 | Comments Off
Now that the 2008 WSOP has wrapped up and the “November Nine” are set, the endless debates as to who will win the $9.1 million first-place prize at the two-day final table have begun, and BodogPoker is giving you a chance to put your money where your mouth is and get in on the action by offering a prop bet on the WSOP final table.
Leading the way at the November final table with 26.2 million in chips is the amatuer poker player from Illinois, Dennis Phillips, and Bodog is giving him 3 to 1 odds that he can take it down. Less than 2 million in chips behind Phillips is Muscovite Ivan Demidov (24.4 million), who is also sitting at 3 to 1 odds as he’s just a pot or two out of the chip lead.
Next up is Canadian poker player Scott Montgomery and his 19.7 million chip stack. Due to his recent final table appearance at the WPT LA Poker Classic and the fact that he is one of the most experienced players at the final table, which unfortunately isn’t saying much, his odds are currently running at 4 to 1. Montgomery is followed by Danish poker player Peter Eastgate, who will start with 18.3 million in chips and odds of 11 to 2 that he can overtake the top three spots to win.
The next two WSOP final tablists have almost identical chip stacks but different experience levels when it comes to poker, leading to slightly different odds on their expected success. Ylon Schwartz only has a 5,000 chip lead over Darus Suharto but the odds for the two are 8 to 1 and 17 to 2, respectively; mainly because Schwartz is a known veteran of the Brooklyn poker scene while Suharto is an unknown player with very limited live poker success, up until now.
Toward the bottom of the posted odds is the most experienced player at the final table, David “Chino” Rheem. Unfortunately, despite his live tournament success, his short chip stack of 10.2 million leaves him with a lot of work to do and a 19 to 2 chance of getting that work done. Below him is Craig Marquis whose odds sit just a little above Chino’s at 10 to 1. The shortest stack at the table is Kelly Kim with 2.6 million and is thus the long shot to win the title at 25 to 1.
The final table will take place at the Rio Hotel and Casino on November 9 with the heads-up match for the $9.1 million first-place prize taking place on November 10. Head over to the Bodogs Sportsbook for more details on Bodog’s WSOP final table prop bet.

Pass the Sugar, Poker Movie set for production
July 22, 2008 | Comments Off
Poker used to be the game always associated with the smokey haze of a card party, reserved for those occasional get togethers nestled in between work and life where friends and poker buddies were walking a fine line. How times have changed, nowadays poker is a nightly ritual, and an international community. You can read a million and a half poker blogs on game play, from the big, tough hillbilly to the cute-and-bubbly, sexy 20-something girl. Poker is played everywhere and has even become a spectator’s game with railbirds becoming present at just about every online poker game I participate in. So with all of this attention over the past 3-4 years, it really is no surprise that we are going to get a taste of poker on the silver screen.
About Pass the Sugar
Variety reports that Gil Cates Jr. is gearing up to film Pass the Sugar, a documentary about the final table of the 2005 World Series of Poker. The nine players battled it out before “Diamond” Joe Hachem scored what was the largest prize to come out of a single poker tournament at the time. Unsurprisingly, the guy’s brother, Tony Hachem, is one of the project’s producers.
What’s sketchy about this project — the featured interviews. It seems that the doc will use discussions with celeb poker players like Jennifer Tilly and Jose Canseco. While that is certainly applicable to poker playing on the whole, it seems a bit cheesy to use them as the players with the insight, rather than the names actually involved in the big event.
