Estrellas tour schedule

The PokerStars Estrellas Poker Tour (ESPT) began at the Casino de Ibiza on May 14, 2012. The poker tour features only the No-limit Hold’em variant in different formats. Besides poker, ESPT also includes a few fun activities that the players can partake in. The basic schedule details of the Estrellas Poker Tour are as follows.

The ESPT Ibiza began with a NLH Freezeout event at 7:00 pm on May 14. The event had a buy-in of €220. This was followed by the €110 NLH Freezeout satellite tournament for the Main Event. The NLH High Roller Freezeout started on May 15, at 4:00 pm. The event has a buy-in of €2,000 and continues for two days. On the same day, another satellite event for the Main Event was held, for a buy-in of €165.

1. The Main Event, which is also a NLH Freezeout Tournament, begins on May 16, 2012. The event has a buy-in of €1,100. Day 1 of the Main Event is split into two days, Day 1a on May 16 and Day 1b on May 17. Players can enter the event on either of the days by paying the buy-in amount. If you have qualified for the event through the PokerStars satellites, you should contact the casino for details.
2. Day 2 of the High Roller event will continue on May 16. On the same day, you can participate in the NLH Turbo Freezeout satellite for Day 1b of the Main Event. The buy-in for this satellite is €165.
3. A €220 NLH Turbo event will take place at 10:00 pm on May 17.
4. Day 2 of the Main Event begins at 2:30 pm on May 18. This will be followed  by the €220 NLH Bounty Freezeout event at 10:00 pm. For each person you eliminate, you can win €50 in bounty.
5. The Main Event will continue with its Day 3 on May 19. A 2-day NLH Freezeout event with a buy-in of €330 begins at 7:00 pm on the same day.

May 20 will be the last day of the Estrellas Poker Tour, when the final table of the NLH Freezeout Main Event will take place. Day 2 of the €330  NLH Freezeout event begins at 3:00 pm. The last event of the poker tour will be a  NLH Deep Stack turbo Freezeout event with a buy-in of €165. This event begins at 4:00 pm.

Position at the table

Play tight in case you are in an early position, because then, you would not have any idea about what the other players’ cards are. Your chances of influencing the pot size are also less when you are in an early position. But in a late position, especially in pre-flop, you will be in a better position to make the right decision, as you’d have the chance to gauge the opponents’ game before you play.

Aggressive or loose competition

If you have played a few hands at the table, or if you know your competition well, you can make out who is aggressive and who is playing loose. If you are at a loose table, you don’t have to worry much when you have a weaker hand, even if the number of players is high. However, you need to be wary of players who might just raise pre-flop and make it difficult for you. If there is such a player at your table, you should play cautiously.

Chip stack or bankroll

Your strategy will also depend on the size of your bankroll. A big bankroll will give you the freedom to take the risk, while a smaller chip stack would would be restrictive. If you have just a few dollars left, then is certainly makes sense to play only your best hands to survive, rather than risk it all and be sent out of the game.

Starting hands

The most important factor that determines a pre-flop strategy is perhaps the strengths of your starting hand. If you have a big gun, or high pair like AA, KK, QQ, AKs, AK, and JJ, you can go ahead and raise. A raise or a bet can be good even when you have two high cards, but not necessarily pairs. When you have well connected cards like 89, 78, 65 etc that can lead to a straight or a flush, your winnings can be maximized when more people are playing. If one of two cards is less than 10, or if both cards are less than 10, it’s best to fold. Anything in between, you should tread cautiously.

Players at the table

When you are at a table with 7 or more players, the chances of someone else having a strong hand, or a possible one, is high. This calls for cautious play at the pre-flop, which means it is best to fold if you don’t have at least a pair or if both the cards are less than 10. If the number at the table is low, aggressive play can be a better idea. In other words, the higher the number of people, the better your hand should be for a win.

The Championship event with a buy-in of $2080 begins on May 17 and ends on May 18. The event guarantees prizes worth $500,000. On May 16, Commerce Casino will be hosting the $300 Mega Satellite for the championship event. The last event of the California State Poker Championship is the NLH Bounty Turbo, with a buy-in of $1,100. In this tournament, you can win $500 for every player you eliminate.
