Poker

The Mohegan Sun opened its new poker room in the year 2008. The room is beautiful and is decked with furniture for comfortable seating. The sign-up desk is the first thing you’ll see on entrance, followed by the main playing area. The main area of the poker room has 40 poker tables. The poker room is also among the largest in the country, but mostly offers low limit games. Table limits are $1/$2 and $2/$5 for no limit Holdem and $2/$2, $4/$8 and $5/$10 for limit Holdem games. The room also has tables with $1/$2 for pot limit Omaha and $1-$5 for stud poker games.

While Texas Holdem dominates the action in the room, poker enthusiasts can also enjoy a bit of Omaha and Stud poker games. Sit n Gos take place every day at the casino’s poker room, which is open 24 hrs a day. It also hosts daily tournaments, weekly special events, high hand jackpots, guaranteed poker tournaments and monthly top player promotions. The best part about this poker room is that unlike most other casinos in the state, the Mohegan Sun allows players to use their Players’ Club points for buy-ins at the poker table.

The poker room also hosts a number of multi-table tournaments throughout the year. The poker room here may not be the best in comparison to those in Vegas but is a good alternative if you can’t go to the Sin City. The best, however, would be to stick to the no limit games to make some money.

Racebook

Mohegan Sun also has a racebook where you can wager on thoroughbred racing. Here you can bet on a variety of live horse racing and greyhounds racing events from the US, England and Australia. The racebook has comfortable seating and has a number of LCD TVs you can enjoy the live races on.

Players’ Club

The Mohegan Sun runs a special promotion for its loyal members through the Players Club. Members of the club can earn comp points by playing the casino games and redeem them against casino game buy-ins, hotel room fare, free admission to the Connecticut Sun basketball games, entry to sweepstake tournaments at the casino and even get discounts at the retail outlets of the Mohegan Sun.

The Mohegan Sun is one of the most happening casinos in Connecticut and can be a great place for gaming. If you are a poker player, be sure to check out the tournaments and promotions that are held during your visit. That way, even if you lose at slots, you can make it up with your skills in poker. And while you are there, don’t miss out the delicious food at Michael Jordan’s Steak House and Todd English’s Tuscany Italian restaurant.
