Mike Sexton Belongs in Poker Hall of Fame – PartyPoker.com

May 28, 2009 | Comments Off

PartyPoker has begun lobbying for Mike Sexton, an ambassador for PartyPoker as well as the host of the World Poker Tour. PartyPoker would like to see Sexton added to the list of those to be considered for induction to the Poker Hall of Fame.

Sexton has a good chance of being placed on the list as he meets the requirements needed to be added to the induction list. He recently finished hosting the seventh season of the World Poker Tour which he has been with since the very first season. He also has a WSOP bracelet and is in the top ten players who have earned the most cashes during the World Series of Poker.

PartyPoker recently re-signed Sexton to their site and he is now the ambassador for the online poker room. The fourth largest online poker room would love to see their ambassador added to the list of poker pros that have been added to the Hall of Fame.

A spokesman for PartyPoker reiterated that they would like to see the poker community vote for Sexton. The spokesman stated: “We encourage the poker community to vote online for Mike Sexton’s induction into poker’s hall of fame. Mike famously said that poker takes five minutes to learn and a lifetime to master- it takes five minutes to vote and mark the lifetime achievement of the master! Mike meets all the criteria and deserves to be top of the list when the process gets to the Hall of Fame committee.”

Million Dollar Hand Promo at PartyPoker.com

March 13, 2009 | Comments Off

From this moment until midnight on March 22, top poker site PartyPoker is giving their poker players a once in a lifetime chance to win up to $1,000,000 through their Million-Dollar Hand promotion.

How the Million Dollar Hand Promotion Works

Players at Partypoker will receive a random card for every 15 Party Points that they accumulate along with a prize for every five-card hand accumulated. If a player puts together a pair from these cards, they will receive a cash reward of $5 and 2 pairs will earn $10. There is no limit to the number of hands that can be hit and players will be able to continue to collect cards and play as long as they continue to collect Party Points.

Here’s the full break-down of possible hands and their values:
Pair – $5
Two Pair – $10
Trips – $25
Straight – $50
Flush – $100
Full House – $250
Four of a kind – $1,000
Straight Flush – $5,000
Royal Flush – $1,000,000

Party Poker has stated that they “have had to insure ourselves against the possibility of multiple royal flushes. All a player has to do is collect points and cards throughout the period.” There are many chances to win $1,000,000 and all the player has to do is stick around long enough to collect enough cards.

PokerStars Changes VIP Club

March 3, 2009 | Comments Off

PokerStars recently announced some changes to their VIP Club. While these changes are mostly minor, almost all of them affect the player in a positive manner, allow for easier progression through monthly VIP levels, increased prize pools, and potentially larger earnings.

PokerStars VIP Club Changes

Monthly VIP Levels

The first change PokerStars made to the VIP club is that they have lowered the VPP (VIP Player Points) monthly requirments to acheive Silver, Gold, and Platinum Star status. The changes are as follows:

  • SilverStar – Lowered from 1,500 VPPs to 1,200 VPPs
  • GoldStar – Lowered from 4,000 VPPs to 3,000 VPPs
  • PlatinumStar – Lowered from 10,000 VPPs to 7,500 VPPs

Increased Prize Pools in VIP events

PokerStars has also increased the prize pools in their weekly VIP tournaments. A few examples:

  • $50,000 weekly VIP Freeroll prize pool has increased to $75,000
  • The 100 FPP buy-in, $20,000 weekly VIP event now has a prize pool of $30,000

By increasing the prize pools in these events, Pokerstars has now brought the total value of their VIP events to over $6.5 million a year. That’s not including special VIP events, either.

Supernova and Supernova Elite extended status period

Players who manage to acheive SuperNova and SuperNova Elite status will now be able to retain their VIP status in the following year until the end of September (provided that the current play requirements are met). This extension provides players an extra 3 months at the SuperNova Status levels.

Conceirge Service Status Changes

The only negative change to the VIP Club is for players making use of the concierge services, a player may now only use the concierge service once per month, with a maximum of three receipts. The total value of the receipts submitted must be for a minimum of $500.

Overall Impact

These Changes, while minor, show why PokerStars is a world class poker room. Always putting their players first, fine-tuning programs to suit the player’s needs, seperates PokerStars apart from the rest.

Spotlight on Bodog Poker Pros

August 1, 2008 | 1 Comment

St. Johns, Antigua (PRWEB) July 31, 2008 — From the moment the first cards were dealt at the 2008 World Series of Poker* to the final days of the Main Event, Team Bodog enjoyed a terrific run this summer in Las Vegas. And tonight, poker fans will be able to see one of Bodog’s very own capture the ultimate prize, a WSOP* bracelet, when ESPN airs its coverage of Event No. 2 ($1,500 buy-in No Limit Holdem). The two-hour, final table coverage begins at 8 p.m. ET.

During tonight’s ESPN broadcast, viewers will witness Team Bodog player Grant Hinkle, a 27-year-old marketing manager from Kansas City, Mo., bust a talented final table featuring poker legend Chris “Jesus” Ferguson, young gun Theo Tran and tournament ace David Bach. Along with his impressive victory in an event that drew 3,929 players, the largest non-Main Event field in WSOP* history, Hinkle took home a life-changing $831,462.

Hinkle’s early bracelet win proved to be momentous for Team Bodog. Just a day later, the team was back in the spotlight with Bodog pros David Williams and Justin Bonomo seated side by side at the final table for Event No. 4 ($5,000 buy-in Mixed Holdem). With an all-pro final nine, including 2008 WSOP* Player of the Year Erick Lindgren, this will be one to watch when it airs on ESPN on Tuesday, Aug. 5, at 8 p.m. ET.

Like Williams and Bonomo, Team Bodog pros Jean-Robert Bellande and Evelyn Ng also found great success at the tables this summer. In the final tournament before the Main Event, Bellande racked up a second place finish to pocket $173,564 and Ng saw herself cashing in two events this summer including an impressive deep run in the Main Event. All together, Team Bodog pros and qualifiers walked away with a combined total of $1,629,767 in winnings from the World Series in Las Vegas.

“We are extremely proud of our Team Bodog pros and qualifiers for their successes at this year’s World Series,” said Morris Mohawk Gaming Group CEO Alwyn Morris. “The WSOP* has been very good to Bodog players for several years now, including a Main Event win in 2006 and a number of bracelet titles. We expect to see even more success at the WSOP Europe this September and across the globe at WPT, EPT and APT events throughout the year.”

Regardless of how they fared at the tables, no Team BodogPoker qualifer walked away empty-handed as everyone donning the black and red of Bodog was treated to an unparalleled VIP experience the moment they touched down in Las Vegas. From an exclusive party at The Palms Hardwood Fantasy Suite filled to the rim with Bodog Girls to private helicopter excursions to the Grand Canyon and an adrenaline-filled day at the racetrack driving high-performance Corvettes, Bodog’s WSOP qualifiers experienced Las Vegas like no one else – in total Bodog style.

The World Series in Las Vegas is just one of a number of tournaments held around the world that poker players can win seats to for as little as $1 at Bodog every week. From the Asian Poker Tour in Macau this August, to the WSOP Europe in London this September and WPT events across North America, Bodog’s Player’s Choice packages give winners the chance to compete for millions of dollars while experiencing some of the most exciting and exotic locations in the world as only Team Bodog members do.
