Added New Sportsbook Section

April 22, 2009 | Comments Off

Poker30.net is expanding!

It’s a natural evolution, actually. After spending so many years betting on sports, we decided we may know a thing or two about it and what better place to share our knowledge than one of our top websites. At first, we are just going to be adding reviews of all of the great online sportsbooks in addition to where to find the best bonus codes for these sports betting websites. Once we get that section complete, we’ll add some sportsbetting news and maybe even a few picks.

As of the time of this writing, Mike has added a review of Gamebookers.com as well as our exclusive Gamebookers Bonus Code. Sticking with another PartyGaming website, we went ahead and added our new PartyBets Bonus Code, as well.

Hope you all enjoy!

Pass the Sugar, Poker Movie set for production

July 22, 2008 | Comments Off

Poker used to be the game always associated with the smokey haze of a card party, reserved for those occasional get togethers nestled in between work and life where friends and poker buddies were walking a fine line. How times have changed, nowadays poker is a nightly ritual, and an international community. You can read a million and a half poker blogs on game play, from the big, tough hillbilly to the cute-and-bubbly, sexy 20-something girl. Poker is played everywhere and has even become a spectator’s game with railbirds becoming present at just about every online poker game I participate in. So with all of this attention over the past 3-4 years, it really is no surprise that we are going to get a taste of poker on the silver screen.

About Pass the Sugar

Variety reports that Gil Cates Jr. is gearing up to film Pass the Sugar, a documentary about the final table of the 2005 World Series of Poker. The nine players battled it out before “Diamond” Joe Hachem scored what was the largest prize to come out of a single poker tournament at the time. Unsurprisingly, the guy’s brother, Tony Hachem, is one of the project’s producers.

What’s sketchy about this project — the featured interviews. It seems that the doc will use discussions with celeb poker players like Jennifer Tilly and Jose Canseco. While that is certainly applicable to poker playing on the whole, it seems a bit cheesy to use them as the players with the insight, rather than the names actually involved in the big event.

Bodog Poker Pro Dominates Heads-Up Poker Match

March 30, 2008 | Comments Off

evelyn-ng.jpg(PRESS RELEASE) Last night in the Bodog Poker room, poker pro Evelyn Ng played a Tournament Leader Board heads-up poker match against the winner for the week of March 3 – 9, “rusostreet.”

“Rusostreet” had to like his chances in this match as he beat Ng heads-up to win Event. No. 1 of the inaugural Bodog Poker Open a few weeks ago, but there was no way that Bodog’s resident femme fatale was gonna let that happen again. Ng dominated the match from the beginning, preventing “rusostreet” from collecting the $2,000 prize and extending her TLB heads-up record to 21 – 15.

Next week, new Team Bodog poker pro Jean-Robert Bellande will be playing in his first TLB Heads-Up match when he takes on the winner for the week of March 10 – 16, Jose “head2782? Severino, who will have the chance to win a $3,000 prize.

Get in on some online poker sites tournament action and work your way up the Bodog weekly tournament leader board and get a free crack at one of Bodog’s poker pros and some serious dough.

Online Poker Ads Against Horse Racing Policy

January 26, 2008 | Comments Off

jeremy-rose.jpgESPN.com is reporting a story on Horse Jockey Jeremy Rose and the fact that he wore an advertisement for ParadisePoker on his pants back in 2005 at the Kentucky Derby.  Apparently, the Horse Racing industry had an absolute fit over this and fined him $5k and suspended him from racing for 15 days.

Rose, who donated the money from the advertisment to pediatric cancer research, is fighting the suspension.

According to Kentucky racing law, all riders must get permission for displaying such advertisements.  Jeremy Rose has been fighting this decision and has filed a petition in Kentucky courts to declare this law unconstitutional.  Rose’s lawyer, Michael Goodwin, is arguing that this law violates Rose’s right to free speech.

Our Thoughts

Apparently big brother is in other industries besides the online gaming industry. It seems ironic to me that a poker ad would be banned from a horse racing event to begin with. Most would consider both gambling but I would definitely consider horse racing to be more of a gamble (and risk) than online poker.

The online poker room Lucky Hog has come back online with a new poker network, according to a recent press release.

Two poker networks had let the online poker room down and now the business is taking a gamble on a third. While the poker room network has changed, the management has not, which should be good news to players.

Lucky Hog Security

Security and payments are always important when a poker room such as Lucky Hog shifts networks. It’s good to know that when Lucky Hog had to shut down and switch networks they made sure to pay out players, even going into their own pockets and adding money to accounts, according to the press release.
